Updated is a technology news aggregator operated by Vivek Khare, Bengaluru, India ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and Google Play's User Data policy.
1. Data we collect

We do not collect your contacts, precise location, photos, files or microphone/camera data. We do not sell personal data.
2. Cookies and local storage
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, a security (CSRF) cookie, a cookie that tells us you are using the Android app (so we can adapt the interface), Google Analytics cookies, and browser local storage for display preferences such as your last-opened section.
3. Who we share data with
- Google — sign-in (if you choose Google) and Analytics.
- Razorpay — processes website payments for Pro.
- Gupshup / Meta (WhatsApp) — delivers WhatsApp alerts, only if you enable them.
- Our hosting provider — stores the service's data on servers in India.
- Authorities — only where Indian law requires it.
Article summaries may be generated with an AI service; only public article text is sent, never your personal data.
4. Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Sign-in codes are stored hashed and expire after 10 minutes. Administrative access requires two-factor authentication.
5. How long we keep data
We keep your account data until you delete your account. Payment transaction records are kept, without your name or email, for as long as Indian tax law requires. Server logs are kept for up to 90 days.
6. Your rights and choices
- Access and correction — edit your profile any time, or email us.
- Delete your account — at https://updated.vivekkhare.org/account/delete (in the app: Profile → Delete account). Deletion is immediate.
- Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from the digest from any email, turn off WhatsApp alerts in Alerts, or delete your account.
- Grievances — contact our Grievance Officer below. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
7. Children
Updated is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
8. Changes
If we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app.
